The Water and Waste Operators Association of Maryland, Delaware and District of Columbia (WWOA) represents water, wastewater and biosolids professionals in the Chesapeake Bay region. We are professionals who are dedicated to improving the environment through the advancement of knowledge.

WWOA will be sponsoring four (4) half-day operator classes again this year! New this year - registration costs for classes are free for WWOA members. For non-members it is $25 per class and will include a 2025 WWOA membership. You must be registered for the conference to attend a class. For class descriptions click below:

On Friday the MDE Operator Certification Exam will once again be offered from 9:00am - 12:00 pm. You do not need to be registered for the conference to sit for the exam. Applications MUST be submitted to MDE no later than August 1, 2025. For application click below:

The WWOA Annual Business Luncheon will be held Thursday, August 28th in Rooms 205 and 206 at 12:30pm - be sure to attend and meet the new Board and Members!
Tri-Con has over 200 Exhibitors this year! Registration includes the Wednesday Lunch with Exhibitors and of course great door prizes at breaks. Come out to get needed credit hours, participate in or watch the operator competitions and pipe tapping shoot out and enjoy all the conference has to offer!
The Officer Ballot for 0225-2026 is now open. A simple majority of ballots cast is required for election to an office.
Voting is anonymous and must be cast by Tuesday, August 26, 2025. With the online ballot, you can vote approve or disapprove of the following nominations:
Tara Jones, WSSC Water for the position of President Elect
Kristy McAndrew, Charles County DPW for the position of Secretary
Mike Emery, Retired DC Water for the position of Treasurer
Pursuant to the by-laws, the following officers automatically ascend to the indicated position and no vote is required:
Paul Hignutt ascends to the position of Past-President
Bill Shreve, Sr. ascends to the position of Past-President
Results of the nominations voting will be presented at WWOA's Annual Meeting which will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2024, at the Tri-Association Conference in Ocean City, MD.

Effective July 1, 2025, all water and wastewater operators in Maryland must complete the EPA's Cybersecurity Training for Water and Wastewater Systems as part of their certification renewal process.
